The Gangster Rally - Spring 2002

Rally Logo

15th-17th February 2002 at Blackwell Court, run by BUSAG with help from UCE

Almost 160 people came, from: Bath, Birmingham, Cardiff, Cambridge, Heriot-Watt, Leeds, Manchester, Newton Rigg, Oxford, Loughbourough, Leicester, Nottingham, Southampton, Swansea, Bristol, UCE, Warwick, and a couple of Indies and some of BUSAG's PMA

It was the second rally with online booking, which we borrowed from Bath. Even though the site was quite out of the way, when we needed an ambulance it only took a few minutes for it to arrive (even so, thankfully it wasn't critical)

Activities included: walk, pub crawl, Cadbury World, Jewellary Quarter and Ice Skating (which required the other ambulance of the weekend)

We were generously sponsored by Land Rover, who gave us a model car to give away as a prize for the best bribes (which went to Helmet's team)

There were 23 members of rally staff, led by Alastair Gibson as Chair, Claire Wilson as Vice-Chair and cook, Maggie Lerwill as Treasurer and Catherine Evershed as Secretary, and a jolly good job of it they did, proving that their near-infinite number of rally committee meetings over the preceding months had paid off
