The Womble Story

Back in the midst of time, when SSAGO was just begun (or possibly was 50 years old) someone decided that every club should have a mascot.

So they hunted around and decided that our mascots should be Wombles!!! From 1970 until the mid-1990's there were 3 Wombles. Unfortunately, two of them took their leave and were lost without trace (OK, we know that someone from Aber Uni took them...). And so it was that one lonely mascot, Scarface (so known because the poor fellow has had no less than 3 replacement faces, possibly 5!), went on alone.

That was until 2002 when, with assistance from our PMA, a new family of Womble mascots were brought to join him in his happy Guild home. There are now 9 Wombling friends, with even more recent additions, ready to lead the club on into the next 40+ years!!!
