The Cambridge University Mexican Society (CUMexSoc) and the Society of Mexican Students in the United Kingdom (MexSoc UK) are proud to invite you to the 7th Symposium of Mexican Students and Studies to be held at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) on the 4th of July 2009.
The MexSocUK symposium is an annual meeting aimed to provide a forum for Mexican students to present their work, exchange knowledge and ideas. The MexSocUK symposium is an opportunity for students from all nationalities working on Mexico-related projects to share and discuss their research with Mexican nationals, members of the academia, government and industry. Furthermore, the event is an excellent opportunity for all levels of networking.
The event will consist of an academic program which includes oral presentations, workshop sessions and keynote lectures delivered by personalities of the academic community related to Mexico.
The official registration is now open. Please visit this website and complete the registration form at your convenience. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
If you are interested in presenting your work, our Society can sponsor part or the total expenses of your trip. So, please send us an email to
with the title of your presentation.

It is again the time of the year to call for people interested in becoming part of the 2008/09 committee. There are at least four positions to be occupied for the next academic year: chair, secretary, treasurer and webmaster - titles don’t matter in practice. Main responsibilities for the people in charge are:
- to attend regular compulsory meetings at the Guild of Students,
- to organise events related to Mexican culture,
- to establish links between other Mexican Societies in the UK and to keep being an important part of the MexSocUK, and
- to give support to Mexican students who arrive to Birmingham throughout the following year.
The handover is planned to start as soon as the welcome week, 22nd September, and completed by the end of October.
Interested people must be registered as student next year, so, if you would like to become a member of the committee or need further information, please send an email to mexican@bugs.bham.ac.uk.
