About Us
The Wayfarers is the UoB student club for people who enjoy walking and hiking in the great outdoors. We run a large number of trips per year to interesting locations outside Birmingham, either as day walks or weekend trips.
You don't have to be an experienced walker to join - on every trip there are people new to hiking and they are very welcome. We typically split into two or more walking groups that cater for different levels of ability/experience, so there will always be a walk you feel happy to go on.
To join the club, or just chat to someone about what it all involves, come along to one of our lunchtime sign-up sessions at the Guild.
We're on Facebook! Please join our Facebook group, which has the latest details on sign ups, trips and socials.

Trip report: Brecon Beacons 27th-29th January 2012
We left Birmingham just before 6 on Friday evening with 16 people. After some debate we decided to stop for fish and chips in Ross-on-Wye. We all eventually arrived at the barn (after visiting Minas Tirith and other exciting places!) by about 9.30 and soon headed to bed – putting on as many layers as possible to try to keep warm.

Trip Report: Malverns - 20th January 2012
For the first trip of the new year 27 of us gathered at University station to get the train to the Malverns. We had lots of new faces so I challenged myself to remember evryones name, and I think I did quite well! Once we had arrived at Colwall we split into three groups, two groups went along the Malvern ridge, one slightly longer route was led by Callum and Phillip, and the other by Craig and Pete. Lucy and Catherine's group did an alternative walk for those who had already been to the Malverns before, through woods and fields to various landmarks, such as to an obelisk and a fort.
ICE Skating and Chinese - Wednesday 7th December 2011
We will be having fun on the ice at Birmingham recently re-furbished ice rink on Pershore Street behind the Bull Ring Markets. The ice rink is kept relatively cold so a warm jacket / jumper and a pair of gloves is probably a good idea. Don't worry if you have never been before most of us haven't, so just come along and have a go. Cost is £9 each (if you have your own skates you can take of £2 for skate hire). After Skating we will be going for a Chinese at Cafe Soya on Upper Dean Street. if you can't make the 6:30 start feel free to join us at any point during the night. directions below -
Lake District - 18th-20th November 2011
On Friday, 18th November, three minibuses filled with 36 Wayfarers set off to the Lake District. After the traditional stop in Sandbach for Fish and Chips, we all arrived at a great barn in Rydal with enough time left to relax with some whiskey and to decide on walks for the next day.
